After a stint in the Airforce during the Vietnam War, Jim attended the University of
Utah, where he studied Theatrical Design and Motion Picture Production. His art background
led him into the Custom Painting Business which ultimately led to his beginning a career
in tattooing under the tutelage of Bud Pierson and Don Brouse.
With more than 25 years in the tattooing business Jim has seen many changes in the art. "It's
no longer just - go in and pick something off the wall- it's much more individual and "art" oriented."
Jim favors "Old School" and realistic black and grey work, but he is also well known for his
Celtic designs.
His work is influenced by such artists as: Bob Tyrell, Nate Beavers, Josh Carlton, Mike Malone and many others.
Never content to sit still he is constantly working to improve his art. "The art aspect has become
so important in this business nowdays that you have to keep pushing to keep up.
The problem is that there are so many hacks out there messing people up and then they come to
us to fix them."
